Yıldız Salman received B.Arch. (1992), MSc.Arch. () and Ph.D. (2005) degrees from Istanbul Technical University. Her thesis named “Stylistic Analysis of XIXth Century Building Façades on İstiklal Street and Suggestions for Ornament Restorations” is completed under Restoration Master Program. Her Ph.D. thesis named “The Physical Corruption of the Bosphorus Historic Site and Conservation Possibilities of the Remaining Limited Values ” was completed under the same program. She was a guest researcher at POlitecnico di Torino during her Ph.D studies (1995-96) and at Columbia University after her Ph.D. studies (2010). She has participated in various national and international studies, workshops and scientific meetings on preservation. She is co-chair of DOCOMOMO Turkey and member of ICOMOS Turkey and ICOMOS International Committee ISC20. She took place in many preservation commissions as a member or scientific advisor. Her researches and professional experience mainly focus on preservation theory, conservation of modern architectural heritage, industrial heritage and urban preservation. She is currently teaching at Istanbul Technical University, Faculty of Architecture in the undergraduate and graduate ( M.Sci and Ph.D) level.
