August. 28th to September. 1rst. 2017
The region of Marl has different specific typologies in post-war housing that do not answer any more to the actual living and conditions, either in functional terms, either in constructive and comfort aspects. More and more, it is needed that most of these Large-scale Housing project typologies be re-evaluated, in order to understand its capacity to adapted to current demands.
The Re-use of Modernist Buildings (RMB) project, financed by ERASMUS PLUS, is going to organize the 1srt RMB Workshop focus on an experimental development of new residential and working Environments and typologies to put under discussion the theme of how to transform existing buildings of Large-scale Housing project of the post-war era into new contemporary housing blocks.
It is intended students understand: first, the present conditions of living and housing needs; secondly, the potentials and threads of the selected buildings and their context to build models of concepts for transformation. These concepts aim to define strategies of intervention and establish new house typologies for living and work.
For this workshop a total of 40 Master students will be selected, eight from each university partner, to form eight different working groups of five students each (one per university)
